Sneak Attack Roller
This free Sneak Attack roller is for D&D 5e rogues who need the extra d6s in a hurry. Pick a rogue level from 1 to 20, see how many d6s that level grants, and tap to roll the pool. A critical hit toggle doubles those extra dice. It is a damage helper, not a class builder.
Pick a rogue level and tap to roll the extra d6s.
Level 1 deals 1d6 extra damage. Average for 1d6: 3.5.
How to use the Sneak Attack roller
Set the rogue level. The tool shows the matching number of d6s: 1d6 at 1st level, 2d6 at 3rd, and so on up to 10d6 at 19th. Press the big die to roll that pool and see every face under the total.
Toggle a critical hit when you score one. A crit doubles the Sneak Attack dice. It does not roll your weapon die. After you hit, roll the weapon on the d6 roller (or another die page) and add your modifier there, or type both parts in the main DnD dice roller.
Sneak Attack dice by level
The extra damage starts at 1d6 and increases by 1d6 at 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th and 19th level. That is the same as one extra d6 for every two rogue levels, rounded up.
| Rogue level | Extra dice | Average |
|---|---|---|
| 1-2 | 1d6 | 3.5 |
| 3-4 | 2d6 | 7 |
| 5-6 | 3d6 | 10.5 |
| 7-8 | 4d6 | 14 |
| 9-10 | 5d6 | 17.5 |
| 11-12 | 6d6 | 21 |
| 13-14 | 7d6 | 24.5 |
| 15-16 | 8d6 | 28 |
| 17-18 | 9d6 | 31.5 |
| 19-20 | 10d6 | 35 |
The average of one d6 is 3.5, so each extra die adds 3.5 to the average of this pool. A 5th-level rogue deals 3d6 extra, which averages 10.5 before a critical hit.
When the extra damage applies
You can deal this extra damage once per turn when you hit with a finesse or ranged weapon. You also need a clear shot at the target: you have advantage on the attack roll, or another enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it, that enemy is not incapacitated, and you do not have disadvantage.
This page does not check flanking, hiding, or class features that grant extra ways to qualify. If the table agrees the attack qualifies, roll the d6s here. To make the attack roll itself, use the d20 roller or the advantage roller.
Sneak Attack roller FAQ
Is this Sneak Attack roller free?
Yes. It is free, with no ads and no sign up. Open the page on any device and roll.
How many Sneak Attack dice do I roll?
The extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level and rises by 1d6 every two rogue levels, up to 10d6 at 19th level. This page maps your level to that count.
Does a critical hit double Sneak Attack?
Yes. Sneak Attack is extra damage dice, so a critical hit doubles those dice along with the weapon's damage dice. Use the critical hit toggle to roll the doubled pool. Roll the weapon dice separately.
When can I deal Sneak Attack damage?
Once per turn, when you hit with a finesse or ranged weapon and you have advantage on the attack, or when another enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it, that enemy is not incapacitated, and you do not have disadvantage.
Can I roll my weapon damage here too?
No. This page rolls only the extra d6s. Use the d6 roller or the main dice roller for the weapon die and your ability modifier.
See the Nat20 Roller FAQ for more on notation, advantage and how rolls stay random.
